Description

The project concerns the design of a new 200 sq.m. residence in Listaros, set within a sloping landscape characterized by expansive views and a strong natural identity. The core design concept is defined by a clear geometric gesture: the formation of a triangular boundary through a series of stone retaining walls, which establish both the physical limits and the conceptual foundation of the composition.

Rather than enclosing the building, this triangular framework operates as a generative field from which the architecture emerges. The residence is conceived as a sequence of volumes that appear to “break out” of the triangle, subtly distorting and extending beyond its edges. This deliberate tension between containment and release shapes the overall spatial experience, transforming a rigid geometric figure into a dynamic architectural condition. The stone walls act as the primary ordering system, organizing movement, defining thresholds, and anchoring the project to the terrain. Within this framework, the built volumes are fragmented and slightly shifted, creating a layered composition that follows the natural slope of the site. This strategy minimizes the visual impact of the building while reinforcing a strong horizontal relationship with the landscape.

The interplay between solid and void is central to the design. Courtyards, terraces, and semi-outdoor spaces are carved between the volumes and the triangular boundary, allowing light, views, and airflow to penetrate deep into the interior. The house unfolds gradually, revealing a sequence of spatial episodes that blur the distinction between inside and outside. Materially, the project is grounded in its context. Natural stone walls and earth-toned surfaces establish continuity with the surrounding environment, while the clean geometry of the volumes introduces a contemporary architectural language. Ultimately, the residence is conceived as a balanced composition between geometry and landscape—where a simple triangular gesture generates a rich and evolving spatial narrative.
